Week 9:
W9 Lecture :
This lecture is about the art of Digital Surrealism.
Notes :
- Realism takes normal world subject matter from what we call "reality" while Surrealism adds a twist on realism by creating a dream-like image and distorts ordinary matter.
- Surrealism goes against logic and is usually inspired by dreams and the workings of
the subconscious mind. - Salvador DalĂ was a spanish surrealist painter and printmaker and known for exploring subconscious imagery. One of his most well known piece was "The Persistence of Memory" shown on page 6.
- Surrealism is a cultural movement focused on type of arts to express about the artist’s idea themselves.
- Below are what makes surrealism artwork what they are :
- Dream-like scenes and symbolic images
- Unexpected, illogical juxtapositions
- Bizarre assemblages of ordinary objects
- Primitive or child-like designs
- Sketching out the idea and looking for reference helps with creating such artworks.
- Have a mindset of how real it looks and create it to the best of your abilities.

Project 2B (Conceptual Product Photoshoot) :
As a part of a 3 week assignment, our task was to create a Conceptual Product through a combination of objects and then using our skills in Photoshop to make it into an artwork. The first task was to do some research and references on Conceptual Product Photography first. We then need to write a summary of our idea along with providing some sketches.
Reference :
Below are reference I found. Basically household objects with a interesting twist. These reference help me in finding and creating ideas for my own conceptual product.

Idea 4 :
Coming up with combination of a product with my household items was a very fun exercise! I get to look at shape of objects in my house and imagine how it would go together in my head, then I would just simply sketch out the idea. I was happy with what I could come up with and this exercise serves a great foundation to be created into a conceptual product.
