Interior and Set Design
For project 2, we are now to develop our interior design that is following the style of our project 1.The main focus on this project is that the interior should showcase the existence of its inhabitants.

Following the same workflow from my project 1, I first looked and study many different references that are fantasy themed. I also looked into real life medieval interiors.

The showcase the floorplan and layout easier, I drew it in a 3D floorplan form. Before even drawing any furniture or props I needed to ensure that the floorplan made sense when compared to my exterior design. It needed to have the 2 side windows, the back door, as well a way leading to the upper floor. After sketching that, I then added some props and furniture which can be seen below.

After receiving feedback from Mr.Kannan. He said that I should add more as well ensuring the interior can tell/show a story visually. After that feedback, I went back to the drawing board and made the sketch below.

During feedback session, Mr.Kannan said the base is there but I needed to render it. He said that I should also considering changing the overall layout to make it more interesting to explore. For example, having a small staircase in the middle of the room that leads to higher ground. So Firstly, I rendered the current interior that I have which can be seen below. I also fixed the big wooden floor tiles that he brought up during the feedback session.

Then I explored on 2 more compositions. One with a lower ground on the center and the other with a basement for studying. I also rendered both of these composition (fig 3.4, 3.5 & 3.6).

After many considerations, I have decided to use the first composition as my final interior design. While it is simple, the simple downwards step makes it look unique without standing out too much.

I also rendered a night ambience for the composition.

Lastly just like the exterior, I made a props breakdown for the interior.

Reflection
Doing the interior was honestly as fun and doing the exterior. The great part on working on a continuous project is that the theme stays the same, so all of the visual memory that I have build from concepting on the exterior design applies here as well. Doing this interior has also taught me to visualize myself as a player playing the game. You start questioning yourself whether adding a certain element/item would make sense or not. We shouldn't clutter up everything in a space just because we can but rather we should clutter up items to tell a story. This project has been a great way to show your understanding as well as your story telling through creating an interior space.
