Art Guide
While working on our interactive comic, we also needed to create an art guide where basically we explain some of the rules required and what to stick to when making the comic. It basically serves as our guideline. This guide basically can range from doing the marketing to doing the concept designs for interactive comic.

We split the art guide to 5 parts and those are Branding & Merchandise, Social Media, Animation Art, Interactive and Entertainment

First, I worked on the cover page for the art guide. To make it easy for each of us to edit, we made each page on Canva. So I challenged myself to make a somewhat interesting cover page with our little character "Guss" in Canva. The outcome can be seen on fig 1.1 and I quite happy with how it came out.

Then, I worked on doing the introduction page of the art guide where it simply tells you what is the guide for and about.

I then worked animation art guide design part. The content was already done by another member, but as they were busy, I helped with adding their part in. This can be seen below in fig 2.1 and 2.2.

The next part was the entertainment design part which is my part. I first needed to finish 2 things first and those were the colouring and shading of the bedroom as well as the character turn around. This can be seen on fig 3.1 and 3.2.

Afterwards, I worked on the documentation as well as the book design of the art guide. This can be seen below fig 3.3 and 3.4

We then needed to record a presentation for our art guide and present each of our part. This can be seen in the Final Outcome section.

Final Project
As for the creation of the comic, I didn't really have much part in it as that is not part of my role except for the animation part, I still do help up whenever I can. After the comic sketching part was done, I needed to help export each selected frame so that animating in figma could be easier. While that sounds easy, it was supposed to be. But the member who sketched and polished the comic strips did not listen to what I say, and made the rendering elements in one layer. I had my work cut out for me. On top of that the drawing was too messy and I had to clean up the drawings a bit. Below shows a timelapse of me doing this proses for 3 hours. 3 hours out of 8.

However, one of our members was not satisfied with the outcome of the comic, so redid each frame alone. While it was quite late to do, he still did it which I applaud them for. The rearranging I did serve as a backup incase it couldn't be completed in time. During this time I gave suggestions when I could and share what could be changed or edited. When everything was finished including the animations, I also helped with playtesting for any mistakes or bugs. Below shows the full figma prototyping and the next section shows our final work.

Reflection
Throughout the 14 weeks, we have created a finished interactive comic book titled "Born Distracted". While our outcome came out pretty good, this has been a pretty rough group project for all of us I feel. One main reason was the lack of communication that our group had. There were many times in the group where a message would be said by someone and then will not receive a reply until a few days later or just stay completely silent. This of course impacted our timeline and resulted in less time to do our work. Meeting deadlines set by us was one thing, but having quality work to me was more important than anything. And unfortunately for our group, once the comic pages was finished sketching, it came out very rough and unpolished. Not only that, but on top of that, the member who did the polishing made me spend more time than needed just trying to fix their layering issues. Unsatisfied with our outcome, one of our members redrew each frame. The whole group was honestly a mess. With that being said, I am thankful that each of our members did do their roles.

As for the art guide, I am also happy with how it turned out as I designed most of the elements there. Researching and understanding our reason of choice for the decisions we made in our comic was quite interesting. The art guide has also made me properly understand why it's important to have such thing especially in the creative industry. There always should be rules you shouldn't cross when making anything from simple animations to games. Overall, this has been a beneficial module to me as I get to learn about what art direction is really about.
