Final Project : Character Creation with Props
For the final project, we needed to polish and retouch our character while also having an appealing posture that matches our character's personality. It also needs to stand on a platform and be retoped. Lighting also needed further enchantment as well as for renders.

I started with adjusting the character's posture. After doing some research I found a tool called 'Proxy Pose' which was extremely useful for for posing a character quickly. It wasn't perfect and required some adjustments but it was good enough for it to work. For the pose, I went for a sassy kind of pose as it fits how the character looks and it's edgy personality.

After posing the character, I started repositioning the clothing back on the body sculpt. With how my pose is, I also made the dress in fig 1.4 fold inwards to make it more natural.

To match the character's pose, I made the facial expression seem a bit for tired as I think it matches the the sassiness of the pose really well.

For the platform, I also decided to add the character's name to the base as I think it would make for a more interesting platform. Here I learned that ZBrush has a text to 3D shape tool which was extremely handy.

For the poster, I went for dark colour scheme to match the character's personality more, I added simple shapes, gradient and even grain which could show a edgy/emo backstory. I used Illustrator for this poster as I was very used to using it. However adding vignette on it was too much, so I exported and added vignette on my other software, paint.net instead.

Fig 2.4 shows the original poly and the optimized poly. I tried reducing the poly as much as I can while trying to maintain the details the character. While it doesn't look like it changed much, I have tried every combination of ZRemesher settings to optimize it as much as I can. The head sculpt was the least optimized one as the details kept fading away after ZRemeshing.

Reflection
The final project definitely wasn't as fun as the previous, mainly because it was more on the technical side especially when trying to retopo. Trying various way to retopo just kind of killed the fun for me. While adjusting the pose was fine, I really dislike the idea of needing to sculpt a part of my arm again as I already made it really well in the A-Pose form. But that is definitely a way to learn better especially regarding anatomy. Overall a fine but somewhat annoying project.

Overall Module Reflection :
This module has been an interesting one, while I understand that anatomy is extremely important to understand especially when drawing, I definitely did not expect the projects to be 3D modelling heavy. While we did draw a lot in the first couple of weeks, I feel as we could have drawn a bit more so that our understanding not only increases but also improve our drawing skills. 3D modelling for me has been kind of a mixed bag. It's fun when you know how to work things but can get extremely frustrating when you're trying to understand how something works. While I generally enjoyed 3D modelling and am happy with my outcome, ZBrush could be a pain sometimes, especially when it crashes and you forget to save. In short, a fun and annoying experience at the same time. At least now, I understand anatomy more now!
