Task 1 & 2:
My current proposal’s research problem is not considered an issue while my older one has a stronger structure in terms of the idea. My current proposal could work if the problem is better emphasized. My research question also could be more specific. My research was lacking, so I should do more research and use the 7th APA style.

Observation
For the initial proposal discussion, I didn’t have any idea on what to do, so I observed my classmates' ideas. After seeing their different proposals, it gave me inspiration on what topics I could consider to do my study on. I was really fixated on specific topics, which led me to not considering many other different aspects in my field of study. I also noted that articles for the critical review task were difficult to find, especially newer ones in recent years. I could have done this better by searching less specifically on what I want as more unique results could be found. Another thing I observed was the difference in data from my expectation with what things people actually wrote. It just goes to show how important data collecting is and I shouldn’t assume what people think because in the end, everyone is different.
Findings
Throughout the 14 weeks of Design Research Methodology I have learned on how to analyze a problem, perform secondary research, and collect data to answer my initial problem. I have learned that entertainment design as a topic was way more broad that I initially thought, which means there were so many different aspects I could have done as a research. I also learned that I should never be afraid to ask for help from the lecturer especially if I’m struggling to do work. I remember after talking to the lecturer, I was filled with motivation and hope again. Lastly, I learned how important data collection is to truly understand my type of target audience. It was very fascinating to learn about different people’s perspectives on the same aspects. It was certainly way more different than I initially thought. Overall, Design Research Methodology has been a very insightful and beneficial module on teaching me how to do research as well as collect data. I hope to use my knowledge gained from this module for my future endeavors.

Week 3
Task 1 & 2:
One of my research questions is rather speculative and should be rethought. I should identify what is similar between the games I select and ask myself whether the difference is significant enough to be classed as a completely different mechanic. I could potentially change one of my research questions to ask what makes those games so popular. I should also be more critical when it comes to problems and questions.

Week 6
Task 1 & 2:
My proposal should highlight the main issue in video games which is being boring from the cause of repetition. Since CS:GO is my case study, I should add it to my research problem. Research questions and objectives could be improved by highlighting the main issue of repetition such as causing the game to be boring and if there is a way to make it more entertaining. For task 3, all of my selected articles have been approved.

Task 1 & 2:
My proposal was approved and I can continue to finish my 3 critical reviews.Task 3:
Always think about different groups of people when answering a survey. Ensure that when it comes to forming a survey for a certain group, it is not too specific to a point they can’t answer it.

The questions seem good, create the survey in Google Form to see how it flows.

Week 11
Task 3:
Two of the questions require some adjustments. For the third section, it is a bit confusing as it makes it too broad to be compared to my main study CS:GO/CS2. So instead, make it about similar games to CS:GO/CS2.
After fixing third section:
One of the questions should be rephrased a bit. Other than that, it is good to go.

Reflection
Experience
Throughout my 14 weeks of Design Research Methodology, I must say it has not gone as I initially expected to. When I heard that we were supposed to do research for the entire module, I was kind of annoyed as I hated doing any form of research. But to my surprise, I ended up sort of enjoying it! In the first few initial weeks however, I felt like giving up because it seemed so overwhelming at first, but as my lecture slowly guided me in each different task, I built a sense of motivation to continue and keep going forward. I even managed to do a topic that got more exciting as I continued to do research as well as gather input from other people! The data that I collected was also quite fascinating and not expected at all! The hardest part in the module in my opinion was definitely collecting 80 respondents as my survey is catered for a specific type of audience. While I didn’t quite reach that milestone due to the lack of time and people I know, I was still happy to reach 72 respondents, which is pretty close to the target. To sum it up, it was overall an interesting module that I didn’t expect to enjoy and learn so much from!
